Humble Roots
Watchmen began as a 12-issue series in 1986. It was later packaged as a "graphic novel" and helped comics infiltrate bookstores.

Proud Lineage
Author Alan Moore also wrote the comics V for Vendetta, From Hell, and The League of extraoridnary Gentlemen, all of which became movies.

Banner Year
The comic was released the same year as The Dark Knight Returns, whose edgy Batman influenced Tim Burton and Christopher Nolan

Accolades
Watchmen is the only comic book ever to have won a Hugo, which is the highest honor handed out in the world of fantasy/sci-fi literature
